Board of Directors

Brian MannChairperson

Brian retired from management consulting in 2014. Before working as a consultant he was Chief Financial Officer of the B.C. Emergency and Health Services Commission after serving in the same capacity at the Ministry of Finance. Before moving to Victoria Brian was Chief Financial Officer of Fincentric Corporation (formerly Prologic) after articling for PwC in Vancouver. Brian is an Honorary Life Member of the United Way of Greater Victoria and he is a member of the Diocesan Finance Committee. Brian believes in giving back to his community by helping people in need. Brian is an avid golfer.

Patrick McDonaldTreasurer

Patrick has been with SSVP for over almost 5 years since moving from Ontario and serving on the Finance Committee.  He brings 42 years of experience working first for various corporations and then managing his own private financial services practice. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Concordia and a Master’s degree from McGill as well as the CPA and CFP designations.   Patrick enjoys golf during his free time; this is his first year sitting on the SSVP Board of Directors.

Jeff KucharskiPresident Vancouver Island Particular Council

Before retiring from the public service in 2012, Jeff was an Assistant Deputy Minister in the Alberta Department of Energy but spent almost half his working career in Japan including with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Jeff has been active in both the non-profit and charitable sectors over many years. He currently serves as President of the Vancouver Island Particular Council. Jeff has a doctorate degree in energy science from Kyoto University (Japan) and is currently an Associate Faculty member of Royal Roads University. Jeff enjoys photography, hiking, boating and writing and publishing articles.

Georgina ShortVice President Particular Council - South Island

Georgina serves on the Board representing the Particular Council in the role of Vice President for the South Vancouver Island.  Georgina has an extensive background in Human Resources and serves on the Society Human Resource Committee.  Georgina is the President of Sacred Heart Conference.

Kathy WeswickDirector

Kathy has been with the Society for over 30 years and is a member of Sacred Heart Conference.  She has spent 2 years on the conference executive, and served on the Particular Council and Board for over 10 years in the past. Kathy has been both the President of the Victoria Particular Council and the President of the Board of Directors.  She is currently a temporary board member.  She is retired from her profession as a Registered Nurse and currently is on the ad hoc Constitution and Bylaws Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Archives Committee.

Stephanie PetersDirector

Stephanie has been with SVDP for over a decade and has been an active Conference member with St. Joseph the Worker Parish.  She brings many years of experience working in both public and private sectors including five years in education, 14 years in social services, several years in manufacturing and in government.   Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s degree from McGill and a Master’s degree from the University of Victoria. When not working, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. This is her first year sitting on the SVDP Board of Directors.

Lucille RichardsonDirector

Lucille is a retired teacher/counsellor for school district 71.  Lucille's joined the Society with her husband Garry at the Christ the King Conference in the Comox Valley in 1996.  They were part of the group that started the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in the valley and were acitve in the setting up and running of the SSVP thrift store.  However, their greatest work was doing home visits.  

Over the years, Lucille has held most of the executive postiions in the Conference: President, Secretary, Treasurer and Dispatcher.  Lucille and her late husband attended many meetings and get togethers at the Particular Council, Regional Council and National Council levels.  Meeting with Vincentians throughout British Columbia and from across Canada has enriched her life.  Lucille was recently elected to a 3 year term on the Board.

Heather MarinaccioVice President Particular Council- North Island

Heather has been a member of the Christ the King Conference in the Comox Valley for the past two years and is a retired from a 32 year career as a naturopathic physician.  She has lived, worked and volunteered in the Comox Valley for 39 years.  .  In 2020, Heather was elected Vice Presdient of that confrence and in 2021 will become the President of the conference.  Heather is looking foward to being on the Board and representing viewpoints and experiences of the conferences in the northern part of Vancovuer Island.  Heather was recently elected to a 3 year term.

Art Paulo Director

Art Paulo was born in 1952 in Sao Miguel, Portugal and came to Canada at the age of five. Art attended St Ann's Academy for grade one and two later attended St Louis College until grade nine, when it closed, and graduated from Victoria High School.

 In 1975 Art was hired by Pepsi Cola in Victoria and worked in various positions ending in the postiion of General Manager of Trade Development for BC and Alberta in 2000.  Art changed positions and retired in 2015 as the Director of Sales for BC and Alberta for Island Farms. As Art moved into retirement he took on a job managing a small local Landscaping business until 2020. 

 Art is a member of Saint Andrew's Conference and is currently on the Finance Committee for the Victoria Catholic Diocese as well as the Building Commission for the Diocese. He has served on these committee's for over seven years. Art was also the President of the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Council for fourteen years. He enjoy golfing, playing soccer and his grandkids. Art is also a member of the Uplands Golf Course.

Michael MarascoVice Chair/Secretary

Mike Marasco is a retired executive, and currently sits on two private sector and one non-profit board.

He is committed to giving back and enjoys the community and charity work he is involved in. 

In his professional life, Mike was CEO of Plenary Concessions, an institutional development company that built, owned and operated infrastructures such as roads, bridges, hospitals, universities, student housing and other public sector assets. Prior to joining Plenary, Mike spent 26 years in the BC public sector with Partnerships BC, Fraser Health and BC Buildings Corporation.

Mike brings extensive development, project management and asset management experience is an accomplished leader and has a successful background in fundraising.

Mike and his wife Donna split their time between Arizona and Victoria and are activity involved in the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in both communities.  Mike is a member of Sacred Heart Parish and Conference.

Mike is a CPA, CMA.

Tim NesdolyDirector/Chair Special Projects Committee

Tim retired in 2020 with over 30 years of public and private sector customer service and management experience in both facilities management and information technology. 

He retired with a PEng designation from the University of Saskatchewan and has extensive project and procurement management experience geared towards process management and the implementation of best practices.

Tim's facilities and IT experience will be an asset to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Vancouver Island.
